Getting started with your log home construction project
Getting started with your log home construction project involves developing your construction drawings, selecting a suitable building site, selecting a log home kit or material provider, selecting a lender (if required) and selecting your builder. Even though I listed selecting your builder last, that should in most cases be your initial step in the process once you are ready to get serious about building your log home. I will briefly explain why I have found that to be true.
An experienced log home builder will bring ideas to the table in the pre-construction planning
phase that will enhance the livability of your home and perhaps save money on the overall cost.
Your builder will be able to help you with the final site selection to assure that what you want
will actually fit there. Your builder will already have experience with other log home kit
producers and can help guide you in the selection process and represent you in the
development of the final plans and materials list. Finally, your builder will also have past
experience at working with log home lenders and therefore, be able to help guide you to a
lender that is comfortable with the log home construction process, and the contractor
performing the work. We at Bear Mountain Log Homes are just such a builder.
We have designed our construction documents to make it easy for you to utilize our services in
all the above areas of the construction process without having to make a final construction
commitment until all of the planning questions have been answered. Getting started is as easy
as 1, 2, 3. Here’s how it works:
- We will prepare a no obligation Initial Cost Estimate for your project
based on the log home package that you have selected. If you have not already selected a kit producer, we can still give you a cost estimate
to help get the ball rolling. In order to do this you will need to give us a reasonable idea of the size and style of the log home you desire
and the species of log and corner style you wish to use and we will be glad to hook you up with a kit producer that can furnish the materials
that you desire.
- If you wish to proceed to the next level of the process after receiving our
initial cost estimate, then it is time to enter into our Pre-Construction Agreement. This is where we develop the final plans, specifications,
pricing and financial requirements.
- If the pre-construction phase of the project meets with your satisfaction, then
we proceed to the final construction agreement. This is when the purchase of your log home package (if not already done) and the construction of
your log home is set in stone and we are ready to start building your log home.
